Teacher Leadership and Compensation System (TLC)
IKM-Manning CSD is pursuing TLC funding for the 2016-17 school year. Three years ago, Iowa legislators created a four-year funding process to develop the statewide Teacher Leadership and Compensation System, with the goal of all school districts voluntarily participating by the 2016-17 school year.
A committee made up of teachers and administrators has been exploring the TLC expectations and is currently writing a proposal for the funds. Through the TLC system, teacher leaders take on extra responsibilities, including helping colleagues analyze data and fine tune instructional strategies, as well as coaching and co-teaching. By providing career pathways for increasing leadership responsibilities, and being compensated for those duties, student achievement increases because of stronger teaching practices.
The TLC proposal is due October 16, 2015 with notification of acceptance coming in early December, 2015. Applications for TLC funding is not available to school districts after the October, 2015 deadline.
